AHA Journals Health Equity Collection

Every person deserves the opportunity for a full, healthy life. As champions for health equity, by 2024, the American Heart Association will advance cardiovascular health for all, including identifying and removing barriers to health care access and quality.

As part of this 2024 Impact Goal, the American Heart Association's peer-reviewed, scientific research journals are committed to elevating the focus on disparities, anti-racism, health equity, community-engaged/community-based participatory research, and implementation science.

The collection on this site pulls together original research, scientific statements, guidelines, review articles, and commentary that address ideas related to these important topics from across the AHA portfolio of journals.

Below are a few key publications produced and commissioned by the AHA. The side menu links to individual collection pages highlighting articles covering Disparities and Health Equity, Race, Ethnicity, and Health, Social Determinants of Health, and Women's Health, Sex, and Gender. Please note: articles may appear in multiple collections.

This site will be continually updated with new articles and initiatives from the American Heart Association and the AHA journal portfolio.
